Reviews of the Tea Rooms & Cafe
The most welcoming, peaceful, relaxing, getaway to Mt Hotham. Hand built by Rona & Bill, this amazing house is comfortable and conducive for the best sleep with the sounds if the river just a few metres away. Beautiful breakfast are served daily with a delicious coffee made to our specific taste. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and comfy stay. Stayed for 3 nights as part of a road trip and could have stayed a week. Rona was an amazing host throughout. So thoughtful and welcoming. The little touches were beautiful and the little pots of fresh flowers each morning were much appreciated! Breakfast was lovely and the room had everything we needed. The room was so quiet - the sound of the river was all we heard and it was wonderful. We slept well and found our stay so peaceful- just what we needed. The location was ideal too for us to explore the area - we walked to Harrietville and enjoyed a walk around the river and the lake. The bakery is worth a visit! And also only a short drive to Bright and more beautiful walks and snacks. Highly recommend - if you want a quiet relaxing stay in a stunning area with a caring thoughtful host, then this is the place!

An absolute treat visiting this place, the owner is a real treasure, she spoke to us about her life and treated us to morning tea of homemade scones, with all dietary needs covered. A truly memorable experience.

What a beautiful stay and location ❤️ What a incredible quick getaway. The lavender farm is cosy and quaint and unique! The view and accommodation was amazing but the real high light was out host Rona. She was the most amazing, thoughtful and welcoming host, she made us feel at home and nothing was a hassle. She made us a continental breakfast every morning and even catered to my dietary requirements without hesitation. We absolutely loved our stay and will be returning. Can not recommend the lavender farm any more!

Lavender Hue is a wonderful place for a quiet, restful break. We just spent 4 nights there in early April, and enjoyed every moment. The loft is beautifully fitted out, the bed is very comfortable and there is a good sized bathroom with large shower and separate bath. There is a balcony at either end of the loft, one with a view to the lush garden and the other with a view to the river. There are two pubs nearby, so dining out is easy. Also, the Harrietville to Bright bike trail is just opposite.Rona is a very generous host and made sure our stay was everything we expected. She brings a fresh continental breakfast to the room each morning, asks about our stay, and makes sure all is OK.Highly recommended and we hope we can return in the spring.

I had a fantastic stay at the Lavender Hue Farm, I cannot praise enough how lovely this Bed & Breakfast is. Rona and Bill are formidable hosts, making the stay so lovely and authentic. The place is a little haven in the Alpine region, with a cottage feel, beautiful decoration and a great breakfast. It really is so much nicer that most of the rental places you can get around. Thank you so much Rona, we will definitely come back to see your place in Spring, Summer and Autumn 🌷💕

Lavendar hue is perhaps my most favourite place on earth! A lavendar farm located by the ovens river in the calm and picturesque town of Harrietville, 15-20 mins drive from Bright. We first visited the cafe a few years ago for Devonshire tea, and immediately fell in love with the secluded riverside setting, gorgeous cottage, beautiful gardens and the kindness and amazing vibes of the owners Rona & Bill - not to mention the addictive scones Rona bakes!! We have since visited and stayed at the B&B at least once a year! Rona is an amazing host. The cottage, built by Bill, is always spotless clean, and feels special with little flowers Rona puts in different spots. Breakfast is gorgeous, with little touches of fresh fruits, herbs from the garden, flowers, etc.Every time we leave, we miss lavendar hue immediately and quickly start talking about our next visit.

Since we discovered Lavender Hue 17 years ago we have returned every year in the autumn and spring to experience such contrasting beauty. As a busy health professional it has become my own unique, physical, mental and spiritual health retreat. Key to this is the silence and peace; only the sounds of the river flowing close by, especially each evening as we go to sleep listening to the gentle flow. Apart from the water flowing there are the constant bird songs. This silence allows us to truly appreciate the timeless beauty of the azure mountains rising steeply in front of the balcony and the array of beautiful, aged trees in the verdantly green valley. In all our travels we have never before discovered such a peaceful, silent retreat from the noise and busyness of life. This peace and tranquility allows us to refresh and revitalise ready for return to mainstream life. We could never tire of this uniquely beautiful retreat always returning with immense gratitude for the generosity of our hosts.

Lavender Hue ... Farm Cafe and BB We recently spent a couple of days in Harrietville. The tranquillity of this lovely piece of countryside is rejuvenating. The sound of the Ovens River and waking up to the dawn chorus, was wonderful and relaxing Lavender Hue hosts, Rona and Bill were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. I'm passionate about herbs, and Rona, who is great fun, showed us how she distils Lavender, which is used for products in the Cafe-Shop I recommend Lavender Hue as an ideal beautiful destination. Peaceful tranquility Peaceful tranquility, the only interruption to this solitude is the continuous gentle sound of the Ovens River, as it flows, crystal clear, over rocks which glisten in the dappled light. This is the environment we cherished while staying at Lavender Hue, Harrietville in Victoria’s’ North East Although development of the area over the past decades is obvious, this section of the river retains its unspoilt appeal, we trust its preservation will be afforded to future generations. We recommend Lavender Hue for its pristine location and the exceptional hospitality offered by its hosts Rona and Bill Rosie & Peter

Tranquil natural beauty nestled in between a river and a lavender field. Thank you to my hosts, Rona and Bill, for a lovely time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I had been so cautious about travelling but felt completely safe and relaxed in the spotlessly clean, gorgeously comfortable accommodation which is nestled in a pristine natural environment. The tranquility of the setting, between the clear river and the lavender farm, meant that I only dragged myself away from Lavender Hue once in three days for an easy stroll into the Harrietville township. Spoilt daily with fresh flowers and herbs, Rona took such pride in the presentation of the cottage and my breakfast. Thank you again, and I am looking forward to returning!

Peaceful and relaxing holiday Thank you Rona & Bill for a wonderful holiday. We love the peace and privacy of the farm which helps to refresh ourselves for another busy year. We look forward to coming again very soon.

We had three days enjoying Harrietville and surrounds from this well appointed and cosy loft studio. Pampered by our delightful hosts Rona and Bill, we couldn't have asked for more. The studio is warm with all the mod cons and the sight and sound of the Ovens River just 'out the back'. A tasty continental breakfast was included, delivered each morning with a smile. We look forward to making several returns to Lavender Hue

As soon as you get out of the car, the first thing you’ll notice is the heavenly scent of lavender on the breeze and the beautiful, tranquil gardens. As you enter the cafe you are greeted by the warm and welcoming Rona. (I loved how you were wearing purple that day). A lovely conversation, lunch on the outside deck under the umbrellas amongst the sounds of nature, equals a most relaxing and enjoyable experience. Thanks Rona, it’s obvious you love what you do. The hardest decision we had to make was whether to order the Devonshire Tea or the Lavender Ice Cream! Both divine!

We have visited Lavender Hue multiple times over the 30+ years we have been holidaying in Bright. I even proposed to my now wife there. It is Eden on Earth. The gardens are beautiful and the creek's running water & wild life make Lavender Hue a magical visit.Verona is a beautiful host, the food & drink she serves in the Cafe is always fresh and hot. The natural lavender products she makes & sells are also wonderful. There is a lot of love and dedication that has gone into making Lavender Hue an incredible destination to visit and relax among nature. A must visit destination.

I didn't know winter could be this beautiful! Rona spared no expense making my partner and I feel welcome and looked after. Everything was excellently set up for us, and we really appreciated the warm, cozy, and peaceful vibes. The location couldn't be better - we had so much to do and not enough time to do it all. Each day was better than the last. Particularly grateful to Rona and Bill for helping us out with my broken down car which got stranded overnight in a pretty inconvenient location. I certainly didn't expect our hosts to go so far as to help us recover it - and help us remedy the issue! Not only that, but they couldn't have been happier to do all they could for us. A stay at Lavender Hue is a good choice for anyone who needs a dose of paradise, with a huge side of warmth, kindness and attentiveness from the hosts. No wonder why we're booked in to return in November!

Amazing Country Getaway My partner and I had the most wonderful time at this little B&B! The B&B was incredibly cozy and well looked after - it has rustic country vibes that suit the surrounding scenery perfectly. From inside the B&B we could constantly hear the sounds of the river outside and had brilliant views of the lavender garden and the mountains. It truly was the most scenic and beautiful holiday either of us had ever had. On top of that the owner was warm, welcoming and accommodating, as well as respectful of our vegan lifestyle! A lovely person who made our stay all the more pleasant 🙂 She and her husband even went out of their ways to help my partner and I when we ran into a bit of car trouble! There were so many perks of this stay, from the hot breakfasts, the quality of the B&B, to the kindness of our host, that I would recommend this holiday to everyone. If you have the chance, be sure to check out this lovely little corner of the world 🙂

Inviting and beconing driveway to mystical wonderland of secret gardens leading to warm and welcoming cottage featuring lovely pleasures for the senses. We were made to feel most welcome as we enjoyed the exquisite lavender aromas and essential oil products. Cafe appeared cozy complete with books and hand-knitted rugs to curl up with. Enchanting floral and sensationally immersive gardens leading down to babling Ovens River below.

We love the place, the environment, and most of all the hosts! We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit. It is one of the most special place we have ever been. The smell of lavender, the sound of the river running, the view of incredible scenery from all sides of the room, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature are just the beginning of the special experience. It is the hosts' thoughtfulness that makes the stay incomparable. We would stay forever if we could! Thank you so much, Verona, for such a wonderful experience! You are the kindest and most generous person we have ever known!**Verona makes the best chocolate cake, brownies, and lavender cookies! Don't miss out on the tea room! She also produces a range of high quality lavender products which I personally find works really well on our sensitive skin.**

Tranquil, enlightening, delightful Located in a tranquil setting on the banks of the River Ovens this cafe, gift shop & B@B is part of a small lavender farm. We were warmly welcomed to the shop/cafe by the owner, Verona (Rona) who explained why she stocked, among other items, quite a lot of Aboriginal pottery. She was extremely knowledgeable about the Aborginal and African indigenous products which she stocked. We had coffee very comfortably on a decking cafe beside the river. We were so taken with Rona, the location and the ambience that we returned later in the day from our round trip to Mt Hotham for afternoon tea! Highly recommended.

Definitely worth a visit! Stopped by to visit the lavender shop and was greeted by the lovely Verona. We purchased hand made lavender essential oils, lavender moisturiser and lavender in pouches. Verona explained how the products are made and how best to use them as well as the origins of the place. We wandered around the gardens and only wish we could have tried the lavender scones from the cafe but were in a hurry. Definitely worth a visit!

Loved this place! We stayed here in May and the room was very comfortable and spacious. Great view from the balcony. Breakfast was included. Verona our host was a pure delight. A hidden treasure I had the most magical stay at Lavender Hue. The room was cozy but still airy and full of space. The decor was very sweet & charming over-all, and having the option to sit outside facing the river or the beautiful garden in-front was marvelous. Rona provided me with every necessity and comfort possible. She was an absolute angel of a host, making sure I had everything I needed & also giving me space & privacy. Breakfast was delicious and generous, the rooms clean and comfortable with cozy & charming furnishings. I was very happy with everything provided. Also please do visit the tea rooms downstairs when they're open for something delicious or to take home one of her marvelous lavender products! If you're in need a place to reflect, have peace & relaxation, there's no better place to go. I look forward to coming back here again and again.

Lovely place to stay We had a week at Lavender Hue using it as a base for walks in the area. The accommodation is very comfortable and feels better than a home away from home. There is only 1 apartment on top of a tea room. The apartment has it's own parking space and entrance at the back. Generous breakfast of croissants or toast, jams, juice and hot beverage is provided. The setting is great with the river on the door step. Easy access to Harrietville (few minutes) and Bright (20 minutes). Would definitely return and would recommend to anyone wanting a lovely getaway.

An Incredible Place to Stay We had a wonderful stay and the hospitality from Verona and Bill is outstanding. The accommodation is stunning, situated above the tearoom. You are greeted by a welcoming scent of Lavender and natural timber (and freshly baked scones). One balcony overlooks the river and the other, the garden. The bed is very comfortable and we were very warm, despite the unseasonably cold temperatures. We would highly recommend Lavender Hue and will definitely be back to stay again.

A beautiful place to stay We spent 3 nights at Lavender Hue for a 30th wedding anniversary - the accommodation being provided as a gift from our daughters. They made an inspired choice. The location is very quiet and beautiful - almost serene - notwithstanding the babbling Ovens River right outside your door. The amazing Rona made our stay very enjoyable with her little touches and niceties. Her hand-delivered breakfast's were excellent, and of course were delivered with her ever present cheeriness. She truly is a gem, and we did enjoy our talks with her on Lavender Hue and all of the world's problems ! Thoroughly recommended.

There is only one booking but it is THE ONE to experience! When I tell you there is only one chalet accomodation available to book you might snigger at what it could possibly offer. It offers tranquility, solitude breakfast included, is at the foothills of Mount Hotham and close to Bright and the benefits are obvious. Missing this opportunity though will not come close to the amenities as will missing a chance meeting with your host Rona. She is just delightful and as precious a commodity as any of the amenities and attractions mentioned. Rona is a life changing experience. Go there just so you can say, "I met Rona and OMG! She is my friend."

Romantic Getaway An amazing location only bettered by the hospitality offered by Verona and Bill. We spent two nights at Lavender Hue and enjoyed every minute of it. The farm, views, creek out the back, treetop cabin and lavender fragrance all contribute and make it an overall fantastic experience. Verona and Bill run a small cafe downstairs, however, this did not interrupt or cause any disturbance to our getaway. A real 10/10, we really recommend Lavender Hue! Thank you again Verona and Bill. beautiful cottage set in the valley We spent 3 nights at lavender hue, and it was perfect. Owners (Rona and Bill) were most friendly and kind, the cottage was beautiful and well equipped in a dream-like garden setting. W enjoyed our chats with Rona, and she also shared with us interesting stories and how the BnB started. From the balcony of the cottage, we could look into the lavender garden with waves of lavender scent. Lavender scones served at the tea room were also delicious! Highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway, with the beautiful lavender gardens in the alpine valley. We hope to come back again!

Great way to end s busy day! We passed through here after a busy day arriving at 3.30pm. We ordered scones, biscuits, banana bread, tea and coffee and milkshakes for the youngsters. Seated out the back overlooking the lake my boys enjoyed playing by the water while we waited for our goodies. Everything was delivered perfectly, tea cosy and all! The scones were so yummy I wish we had ordered more! The lady who runs the cafe was so friendly and accommodating even putting blankets on the boys to take away the late afternoon chill. Such a gorgeous spot to visit and indulge.

Ehchanting refreshing hideaway An enchanting, welcoming and beautiful place to stay to refresh yourself. The scent of lavender fills the air, the gurgling of the Ovens river captures your spirit and the unit is cozy, spacious and invites one to relax. The view of the night sky captures your attention and wonder. We have stayed at Lavender Hue a number of times and continue to return. Tranquility at it's best What a beautiful spot this is..... Nothing to hear but a running river & birds... My husband &I spent a weekend here & felt like we'd removed ourselves from the normal pace of life for near on a week. Our accommodation was warm, cosy & set up high amongst the trees (second storey) . Our host 'Rona' was a beautiful person who was happy to share her wonderful haven with us . Her passion to make a place for people to go to when they need time to switch off "& see how the other half live" certainly shows. We loved it & will certainly go back - maybe in the summer this time to see a different side of the beauty there... Thanks Rona & Bill

It is a fairytale We spent 3 nights in Lavender Hue on Queens Birthday weekend this year. Totally agree with Jenny, we were living in fairytale! It's really quiet at night, what you can hear only is the running river 🙂 There is no oven/stove in the cottage, but they do have a BBQ stove, microwave and toaster. You can still cook if you want and Rona will definitely help you if you need more ingredients (they have salt, pepper and oil) :p Harrietville is about 15-20 mins drive from Bright. There is no light on Great Alpine Road or entrance of Lavender Hue, you'd better drive slowly if you don't wanna miss it ( Actually we missed it twice the first night..) I was so impressed by Rona' s fresh flowers every morning and her yummy blueberry jam. She even gave me a lavender heat pack to keep warm. Rona is the sweetest lady in Harrietville. If you stay there in winter, don't worry, there are two heaters in the room! Hope I can go back to the fairytale sometime in summer, when the lavender blooms 🙂

Friendly and charming getaway My partner and I had a fantastic time here. It's the perfect spot for all the region has to offer. Our hosts Rona and Bill were so welcoming, Rona is such a kind sweet hearted person - nothing is too much trouble. They have poured their heart and soul into the residence and it shows. Asking Rona the history of Lavender Hue reveals a fascinating story! Be warned of access to the mountain during ski season, we would have faced a $150 fine if not alerted by our hosts, which we were very grateful for.

Living in fairytale This is a place where your eyes will appreciate the soft purple color, your ears will enjoy the birds chirping and the river running and your mind will rest in peace with the gentle aroma of flowers. Rona, the lovely kind hearted lady running the place, is trying to provide a special experience to her guests rather than merely a place to stay. She is not presenting the room but her lifetime dream. We had an extraordinary time there and I especially enjoyed talking to Rona. No matter what you brought with you when you arrived, you will leave with a beautiful mind and positive perspective. 🙂

Great weekend away My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary at Lavender Hue and had a wonderful time. The place is stunning and incredibly peaceful. With a river running immediately behind the property and breakfast brought to our room by our gracious host Rona, we couldn't have asked for more. Make sure to try her delicious scones!

Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful location We are just back from a lovely weekend in Harrietville staying at Lavender Hue. The weekend was just what we needed, relaxing and peaceful. Lavender Hue is beautiful accommodation set in a beautiful location. The cottage was spacious and comfortable and had everything you need. Rona and Bill were lovely hosts and are clearly lovely and kind people. Rona makes a wonderful breakfast of hot croissants, coffee and orange juice each morning. The cappuccino’s in particular were perfect. We enjoyed hearing about the effort Rona and Bill put into cultivating the grounds around Lavender Hue and we are looking forward to returning in summer to see all the plants in full bloom and colour. The two local pubs (Snowline and Harrietville hotel motel) had great food and were within walking distance of Lavender Hue.

Peaceful Getaway We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage style accommodation nestled within the lavender farm on our way back from skiing at Mt Hotham. It was very cosy, a beautiful setting with a bubbling brook outside and the smell of lavender scones cooking below. Our host was very gracious and very knowledgeable about growing lavender and the making of lavender oil and soaps, etc. We have also been in this area during autumn and it is amazing when all the trees start to change colour. Don't miss this one if you are in the area or want a quick get away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne.

Picturesque retreat with a special charm Our autumn holiday at Lavender Hue was delightful in every way. We awoke to remarkable views in all directions: red vine leaves entwined around our balcony, a beautiful garden and fields of lavender (harvested at this time of year), the mountains and forests of Victoria's high country, and the Ovens River. As regular guests we love the chalet building, and find the studio (above the shop and cafe) to be spotless, comfortable and charming. Our host Rona, starts our day with a warm greeting, delicious coffee, fresh juice, croissants and home made jams. Rona has great humour and always makes us feel at home. Her scones are great too! The Autumn Festival provided much to see and do in Bright and other towns of the region, all glorious in colours of the season. Harrietville is also picuresque, and the little town centre is a pleasant 2km walk from the B&B. We found an excellent blend of relaxation, day trips, and activity during our stay. Lavender Hue has drawn us back for many summer visits to marvel at the fields of purple. Having now enjoyed a taste of autumn, in blazing reds and golds, once a year will not be enough!

Gorgeous Getaway in the Valley We stayed here for two nights and were head over heels with the place. Handbuilt by the owners, it looks and feels like an upmarket ski lodge with cathedral ceilings, exposed timber and really spacious. Roma's service is second to none - her breakfast's are something quite special, and she went out of her way to cater for me being a coeliac. I was envious of the croissants my partner had though! There's plenty of space to relax and be made to feel like you're delightfully isolated. We would highly recommend Lavender Hue!

Warm and cosy retreat Lavender Hue is a beautiful place to stay at, clean and very comfortable (even in winter). With the sounds of the river, the views of mountains, the rustic charm of the interior coupled with bright sunlight pouring in through the large windows... made my time at Lavender Hue a relaxing experience. It is just as enjoyable spending time relaxing inside the accomodation as visiting the surroundings of Harrietville or further, so I recommend that you set aside some time for doing just that. Apart from the accomodation, it was our host Verona who really put a smile on our faces. She welcomed us with a warm heart and was very accomodating. I also loved the fresh flowers from her garden that came with every breakfast - especially the lovely snowdrops. I'd love to visit Lavender Hue again very soon... Reading an earlier review about the lengthy travel to and from Bright had me a little concerned at first, however I found this trip only taking approximately 15 mins even when driving slower than the speedlimit. Therefore we did not find the travel to Bright for dinner a problem at all.

Best Winter Escape I highly recommend a stay at Lavender Hue. You will not be disappointed. Ideal location for exploring the natural beauty of Mt Buffalo, Bright and surrounding area. Don't let winter stop you having a fantastic holiday in this beautiful part of the world. I finally got to experience staying in a loft with a river flowing past the front door, you can hear it from your bed and it welcomes you home after a long day of being out in creation. I got lost in a hedge maze and earned the sponge cake at the end, I didn't think I would ever meet a sponge I couldn't tackle - but I met my match at the Hedge Maze. The walking and scenery at Mt Buffalo is a must for any visitor in the area. Staying at Lavender Hue was the absolute highlight.

Most Tranquil, Refreshing, and Heart Warming Wife and I wanted a place for some quiet and restful time. Although there is no Lavender blooming, I could smell the Lavender plants as I got out of the car. With a very warm hearted host, Rona, Lavender Hue is top on our list. Rona's sweetness comes through the whole property with many warm personal touches, small fresh flower deco and detail. The apartment is clean, very well maintained, and surrounded by greenery all around. You can also enjoy sound of the rushing river at the back of the property, a clean and crisp smell of the alpine country. A pride and joy of Rona and Bill's many years of labour and a definite delight to spend time in. How happy are we that we found Lavander Hue? We are already thinking of when to schedule our next visit.

Excellent lavender products and beautiful gardens. We visited the Lavender Hue lavender farm for a replenishment of lavender shampoo and had a lovely afternoon tea next to the river. The place continues to develop and offers more opportunities to enjoy the gardens and the excellent food and lavender products. The grounds are beautiful and the property has added an under cover deck area near the river as well as the existing eating areas. The lavender products are excellent and the food is delicious. It is a lovely place to visit when you are exploring the Victorian alpine area.

Best in Bright - cosy and rustic My husband and I stayed at Lavender Hue for three days in September, 2011. Lavender Hue was a stunning place to stay. It is charmingly cosy and rustic and having a view of the mountains from our bed, shrouded in mist, in the morning was amazing, as was hearing the Ovens River bubbling away. The host, Rona, is one of the most beautiful people you will ever meet. I have never been so pampered or looked after – she is the most caring and nurturing person. The care she displayed over our breakfast (choices of sourdough or croissants, homemade jams, various teas, juices and coffee) and to make sure we were happy, was immense. This is no detraction from the quality of the accommodation at Lavender Hue but it is 20 kilometres from Bright and it can get a bit tiring driving to Bright for lunch and dinner (there is only basic pub fare in Harrietville and if you are not in the mood for this it is very limited) if you stay for a few days. You also need to be careful driving on the road at night - there are deer on the road at night. They are amazing to see but of course you need to drive slowly. I will definitely stay again at Lavender Hue but next time to make things really relaxing for me,and avoid a lot of going back and forth, I’ll also bring some food to microwave for dinner (there isn’t a stove or oven but there is a microwave, fridge, cutlery and crockery) and eat it on Lavender Hue’s balcony next to the Ovens River – moussaka will be perfect!

Beautiful Bed & Breakfast We stayed a long weekend at this beautiful Bed & Breakfast and we enjoyed every minute of it! It was wonderful to sleep in total silence, only with the sounds of nature (including the lovely river in front of the cottage). Rona made sure to make us feel at home and she had a great attention to detail (everywhere there are little touches of lavender and she brings in fresh flowers every day). We would really recommend staying here, you won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful corner of NE Victoria. Very comfortable accommodation with superb views from every angle. Rona was a fantastic hostess and made sure our breakfast tray was very well presented with great coffee & pretty flowers. The home-made raspberry jam was superb. Bed was comfortable & the peace & quiet made for a great nights sleep. Lovely walks near the river & around the garden. We will have to go back when lavender is flowering. We were able to avail ourselves with the devonshire teas at the cafe downstairs. Can highly recommend the scones & Rona's specialty cookies.

Wonderful place and host Our 5 nights at Lavender Hue was the best. Lovely location. every need catered for by the most delightful host. From the home made croissants and jam to the small bunch of fresh flowers on the breakfast tray - nothing is too much trouble. Next time visit when the lavenders are in bloom! Should be high on everyone's visiting list! Peter & Gill Adelaide

Fantastic service, hospitality and ambiance. A lovely place to stay. A truly wonderful and memorable holiday at Lavender Hue. Rona our host made my husband and I feel very welcome and went out of her way to ensure we had a relaxing break - which was much needed. The little extra touches (home made cookies, presents for us and our children when we left) made for a perfect stay. The cottage upstairs was very homely, spotlessly clean and well equipped with a big comfy bed facing outwards to the lavender gardens. Although not in bloom it was still lovely to wake and see the early morning frost on the garden and listen to the river just metres away. Don't miss out on this place, you won't be disappointed and I'm sure that Rona will definitely spoil you!

Heaven on Earth. Smokers not Welcome. Lavender Hue is a truly idyllic bed and breakfast. Probably the best I've ever stayed in and I've traveled quite extensively. There is only one guestroom which is situated above the cafe and gift shop. So you don't need to concern yourself with neighbours which is great. The guestroom has 2 balconies, one off the bedroom which overlooks the lavender farm and one off the living/kitchenette area which overlooks the river at the back of the property. Every piece of this property is stunning, no matter where you look. The accommodation itself is just lovely and well appointed. Rona, the proprietor, is one of the kindest souls you'll ever be fortunate enough to meet and nothing is too much hassle for her. She will go above and beyond to accommodate you in every way possible. Good news for non-smokers (not so good if you're a smoker) is that there is no smoking allowed on the farm grounds whatsoever. Breakfast is continental and brought to your room at any time you wish. Lavender Hue is a property that you will return to time and again. It's good for the soul and as close to heaven on earth as I have seen.

Beautiful place, great host, perfect location to relax My Husband and I stayed at Lavender Hue for 2 nights, it was our last getaway before the birth of our baby. We were welcomed with open arms, made comfortable and enjoyed delicious scones and tea. The room is gorgeous, exposed beams and a very comfortable bed, the sound of the river out the back is very relaxing. Breakfast on the front balcony in the morning sun is a must.

We'll be going back next year for our third stay at Lavender Hue We love staying at Lavender Hue. Rona and Bill are terrific hosts and lovely people. The setting is stunning with fabulous views all around. Waking up to the sound of the river and many different bird calls is wonderful. The breakfast, delivered to our kitchen at the time of our choosing, is delicious and Rona adds many lovely touches such as fresh flowers from the garden. It is an excellent location to use as a base to go bushwalking in the surrounding high country. After two visits it has become a favourite of ours.

Lovely place with a lovely host We stayed at Lavender Hue for two night as a special weekend getaway for two before the birth of our third child. What a lovely peaceful place with the river right on the backdoor. The cottage is on the second floor and has a lovely view over the lavender field. At 7 months pregnant this place was bliss, the cottage was comfortable, warm while still being light and airy. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was great, warm croissants and great coffee. But the bext thing about Lavender Hue is definately the hostess. By the time we left we were made to feel like firends rather than guests. Nothing is too much trouble, but you never feel like someone is looking over your shoulder. We will definately be going back when we can get a babysitter for three!

Cosy and serene accommodation with lovely owners. Great views and lovely surroundings. Personalized service in a private and romantic setting. The sound of the river mixed with the beautiful aroma of lavender makes for a relaxing getaway. Very convenient to get to the snow as well! Would love to come back in the summer.

Peaceful mountain retreat We stayed at the Lavender Hue Chalet in March. The drive up from Bright was a delight through the beautiful lush valley. Verona was very welcoming and suggested we took a drive up Mount Buffalo. What a treat, we were virtually the only people on the mountain apart from the rangers and the views from the top were amazing. So this is the Australian Alps! We enjoyed Bright which is a lively alpine town with some lovely shops. Our only disappointment was that we didn't eat in the chalet but instead went to the local pub in Harrietville. They seemed surprised to see us, we were their only guests and the food was disappointing. The chalet was a delight and spacious. There were some really interesting local books about the history of the area - being visiting Brits we found these fascinating. The best was to come - the night time sky showed us a myriad of stars and the milky way in chilly silence. The early morning sun flooded the bedroom and lit the misty lavender gardens. Verona brought us breakfast on a tray on the veranda which was wonderful. When we left she told me to take the bars of lavender soap provided - I am on my last one - its lovely soap. I wish we weren't back on the other side of the planet otherwise I would be back there in a shot. Loved it.

Peace and tranquility Stayed in Lavender Hue this spring with garden plants in full bloom and the wysteria was just magic. If you are wanting to remove yourself from todays hectic world, place yourself in peace and tranquility, "Lavender Hue" Harrietville. Having breakfast brought to your room each morning and then enjoying croissants, jam and a hot coffee on the early morning sun filled balcony was a treasured moment. There are great walking trails in this area, Bungalow Spur and the famed "Razor Back" just to name a couple. Nothing is too much touble for your hosts and after a stay here you will wonder why life cannot be always like a stay in Lavender Hue.

A Must drop in place My wife and I dropped in here on the way through Harrietville for a Devonshire tea. The owner was one of the nicest genuine people you could meet. The surroundings were beautiful with the river in the background and beautiful greenery. They have some good lavender products as well. My wife and I loved the scone as they were straigth out of the oven, yum. Did not stay but the cottage you stay in looks devine. Anyhow even just stopping in on the way through is a must and an experience which will become a memory

Loved the Lavender farm. My husband and I in Febuary stayed in beautifull Harrietville. I must recomend a delightfull cottage amongst lavender fields in the valley of Harrietville called Lavender Hue. The scenery is spectacular in and surrounding this village, the pub was warm and fun. The ovens river flows behind the cottage and people were fishing for rainbow trout there. The owners went out of their way to make us happy, and we had a great time.
